Parallel Universe: A Magnificent Christmas (Luke 2:1-7)

“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased”
I think today’s devo article is very difficult for me. I don’t understand it well, just by a little concept, and maybe it’s false. But i can see clearly that the writer, Phillip Yancey, want to show us the magnificent of Christmas, when Jesus born to the earth. I can’t write too much here, but i pray that i can always keep the truly meaning of today’s devo in my heart.
Maybe in our simple mind, we taught that Christian’s life was divided unto two different division, and became two different universe. The first universe is about human life, where always struggling in their daily life personally. This universe consists of glass, steel, leather briefcases, the smell of freshly ground coffee, and anything else that used to produce money. The second universe consists of angels, spiritual forces, and somewhere-out-there-places called heaven and hell.
We live in a material world, very-very-very-very far with the invisible but glorius world. But, 2000 years ago when Jesus born in Betlehem, there’s no more separator beetwen this two worlds. Christmas turns the tables and hints at the struggle involved when the Lord of both worlds descends to live by the rule of the one. In Betlehem, the two worlds came together, realigned. What Jesus went on to accomplish on planet Earth made it possible for God someday to resolve all disharmonies in both worlds. See how wonderful the Christmas is!
Because of that, there’s no reason to us to keep our voices. In this Christmas, let us always praise and worship Him, unstoppable, like the voices of Angels (Luke 2:13-14). Let the whole world hear the glory and the majesty of our God!
